A dystopian cyberpunk novel by Neal Stephenson, Snow Crash is most known for introducing the metaverse. The novel, along with William Gibson’s Neuromancer, which envisions a virtual reality dataspace called the matrix, was published in 1992 and is regarded as a canon of the genre.

(AI) and (AR) are two closely connected technologies app developers can combine to create unique experiences. AR is a type of experience that integrates both digital and physical worlds. Snapchat lenses and Pokemon Go are two examples of AR. People can use augmented reality to superimpose digital content over real-world scenes, such as text, audio, or photos.

Morton Heilig, a cinematographer, was the first to achieve augmented reality in 1957. He created the Sensorama, which provided the spectator with images, sounds, vibrations, and smells. Always on the verge of being adopted, but never quite there. Over the previous half-decade, that's pretty well summed up enterprise AR/VR. The first AR technology was established in 1968 at Harvard by computer scientist Ivan Sutherland (named the "Father of Computer Graphics").
